Our Smiles By Sands Dental Team
When you visit the dentist, it is important that you feel at home in a friendly environment. At Smiles by Sands, we aim to make you feel just that: at home. Just as you are a part of our family, so are all of our employees.
Our cosmetic dentist team is made up of qualified dentists and dedicated staff who all aspire to make your dental experience unsurpassed in quality and comfort. Each of our employees is a member of our dental family and, as such, they are highly motivated and committed to quality, long-term.
One of our staff members, Amanda, has been a member of our cosmetic dentist team since the opening of our practice. We also have several staff members that have committed to our practice since they graduated from their hygiene schools and internships.
Our familial bond runs strongly through the entire dental team. With weekly meetings, we spend time keeping our family dedicated. We also offer our staff a variety of team activities to maintain our strong connection. Over the years, we have journeyed as a team to a variety of sought after destinations such as San Francisco and Las Vegas.
Outside of the office we hold events four times a year to cultivate the strength of our team. Our outings are held at places like Jerry’s Deli, the bowling alley, Burke Williams Spa and Disneyland.

Dr. Jason
I graduated from the University of the Pacific Dental School in 1998. I opened my “Smiles By Sands” dental office in 1999. I am a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and San Fernando Dental Society. I completed a residency in implant restoration and attended the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum in San Francisco where I trained with the countries top clinicians and lecturers on cosmetic dentistry. I also attended courses with Dr. Frank Spears of the Spears Institute in Seattle, Washington.
When away from the office, I enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, eating, visiting art galleries and museums. Some people say, I was born to be a dentist, since I come from a long line of dentists. My father, uncle and brother all have their own dental practices.
Alex
I have the pleasure of the company of my wonderful colleagues in Dr. Jason Sands’ practice. I have known Dr. Sands for over nine years and have a great deal of respect for his talents and his sensitivity towards his patients. I have practiced Dental Hygiene for many years, and enjoy the contact with the patients and the teaching aspect of our profession. When patients return and have improved, it makes me satisfied that they have learned things that will benefit their health for the rest of their lives. I always look forward to meeting new patients.
Professionally, I graduated from University of Southern California with a BS. Much later in life I attended law school and earned my Juris Doctorate Degree. I have five children and seven grandchildren. My husband is a dentist, we met in dental school. Our lives are very busy, full of activities, some that require recuperation (like, babysitting)! We spend a lot of time with our family. We have many pets, I really love animals. In addition, we like to travel, and have many places left on our list of places to go!
Amanda
I’ve been with Dr. Jason since he opened his practice over 10 years ago. I love that we are very family oriented and make our patients feel like part of our family. I look forward to the events our office staff plans outside the office each month. I have found my position as office manager at Smiles By Sands, to be fun and fulfilling.
Deirdre
I have been in the dental field for over a decade, and have worked with some of the best leaders and educators in dentistry today. Now I am lucky enough to be a part of such a caring and quality office as the Smiles by Sands team. Dr. Jason is exceptional in his ability to provide excellent dentistry, while making his patients and even his staff, feel at home here. As a staff, we are very happy and get along famously, which extends to the overall experience patients have here at the office.
I am a health advocate in and out of the office, spending much of my time outdoors. I like to do a little bit of every sport, so nothing gets boring. Life is a fantastic gift, and I plan on enjoying every moment of it.

I’ve been lucky enough to work on Dr. Sands’ team for over 5 years now. He is a great dentist that I’m proud to work for. I am an actress and a writer and Dr. Sands has always been supportive of all my endeavors. I have a BA in psychology from Cal State Northridge. I spend a lot of time with my boyfriend and our cat, as well as friends and family, when I’m not at the office.
Kristina
I graduated from USC Dental Hygiene School and have been practicing with Dr. Jason Sands for almost a decade. I feel fortunate to be part of the Smiles By Sands team, it has become my second home. Over the years, my coworkers and I have become friends, and I enjoy coming to work everyday. Having the opportunity to work with great patients makes my job very rewarding. I am happily married with two wonderful children. As a family, we like to travel, hike and eat.
Yolanda
I’ve been a dental assistant for 6 years now and I love it. I’m a new addition to Dr. Sands team and I already see how much I’ve grown during my time at this practice. When I’m not working, I enjoy going to the gym, hiking and going to the museum.
Anna
I have worked at Smiles By Sands for almost 8 years. I work in the lab sterilizing instruments and I like knowing that I’m helping to keep people healthy and safe, like I do my own family. I love to spend time with my two sons, my husband and our cat.
Rumaldo
Working at Smiles By Sands for the past six years has been an interesting experience as I have grown professionally under the guidance and tutelage of Dr. Jason Sands. I love to spend my time off coaching my kids soccer team, going hiking and I’m a volunteer referee. I enjoy having fun with my wife and our children.
Tina
I grew up in Los Angeles, California and have been actively practicing as a registered dental hygienist with Smiles by Sands for the past five years. I graduated from University of Southern California (USC) in 2006 and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. I got married to my best friend Dong in April 2011 and we are expecting our first child in February 2012. My main interests include sports, food, church, family, and friends. I am an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan. I am blessed with a beautiful family and a great place to work.
