Procedure Time With Dental Crowns
- Shield your tooth from further damage
- Replace a worn or damaged crown
- Have regained functionality
During your first dental visit, Smiles By Sands will make an impression of your teeth and send it to our laboratory where your dental crown will be created. In the meantime, we will provide your tooth with a temporary crown to protect it from further damage
After two to three weeks, the crown is finished. Simply return for another short visit and we will attach the crown to your damaged tooth.
Sometimes, the procedure can be slightly prolonged. It all depends on your current oral health condition and the reason why you are seeking a dental crown. For example, if your tooth has significant decay, a root canal might be required before the crown can be placed.
While both visits are relatively painless and non-invasive, at Smiles By Sands, we understand that any dental visit can cause stress and anxiety, which is why practice sedation dentistry. Don’t let your dental anxiety prevent you from addressing your oral health concerns.

Placement of Dental Implants
While it’s possible to have a dental implant placed in just one visit, most patients don’t qualify due to a lack of good quality jaw bone, a low sinus, or other factors. Since the likelihood is your dental implant will be commitment of many months, it’s important to know what you’re getting into:
- The initial step is preparing the jaw by drilling a titanium screw into the gum
- Your gum must then heal around the screw. This process is known as osseointegration
- The gum tissue is carefully lifted and a healing collar is placed
- After your gums heal around the collar, a porcelain crown is attached
On average, this process takes approximately three months. In between surgeries, you must maintain the highest quality of oral hygiene to ensure a successful implant. Following the placement of your dental implant, you must return for dental cleanings every three to four months.
Smiles By Sands goes the extra yard in making certain our patients have a pleasant dental experience, which is why we practice sedation dentistry in order to alleviate any dental anxiety you might typically endure.
