Keeping A Natural Smile With Porcelain Veneers
Since the procedure for porcelain veneers involves having a miniscule amount of tooth enamel shaved off your teeth, your new smile won’t look bulky or protrude. What’s more is that the ceramic material they’re made of reflects and absorbs light just like tooth enamel. The only one who will know about your porcelain veneers is you!
The advancements in modern dentistry allow us to color match your porcelain veneers to your existing tooth color, hair color, skin tone and eye color. If you choose to have your teeth whitened, you risk over whitening your teeth or not having them compliment your features, resulting in your unhappiness.
Do you consume a large amount of acidic foods, nicotine, or dark beverages like wine, coffee or tea? Your porcelain veneers will keep your smile looking bright, white and natural, as the ceramic material is resistant to decay from these staining agents.
If you are considering porcelain veneers or would like to know more about how our cosmetic dentists will ensure your new smile looks natural, please contact Smiles By Sands, serving Valley Village and surrounding areas of California, today.

Caring For Your Dental Crowns
Here are some tips on caring for, and maximizing the lifespan of your dental crowns:
- Practice good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily
- At Smiles By Sands, we use porcelain dental crowns, as they’re the most aesthetically pleasing. However, they’re also more prone to decay and damage, so use a non-abrasive, soft-bristled toothbrush
- Don’t bite your nails, chew your ice, nibble on your pen etc.
- Don’t clench or grind your teeth. If this is a sub-conscious habit during sleeping hours, we can provide you with a protective mouth guard
- Change your diet to consist of softer foods
If you follow the above advice, your dental crown can last you ten years or longer.
