Tooth Whitening And Sensitivity
It’s near impossible to have a head-turning smile and zero tooth sensitivity. If you already experience tooth sensitivity, it’s not recommended for you to brighten your smile through traditional tooth whitening procedures.
However, at Smiles By Sands, we use Zoom! Tooth Whitening, a low sensitivity tooth whitening technique that will leave you with a minimal amount of discomfort during and after the procedure.
If you have undergone a tooth whitening procedure and still experience sensitivity, there are ways you can reduce your discomfort and minimize your tooth sensitivity:
- Brush gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Electric toothbrushes are another option
- Many tooth whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes are highly abrasive and attack the enamel that protects your teeth. Try substituting these highly abrasive dental products for other less damaging ones
- Brush immediately after eating highly acidic foods like oranges and yogurts, which can damage tooth enamel
- Stop grinding or clenching your teeth. If this is a subconscious habit, wear a protective mouth guard while sleeping
- Don’t chew on inedible objects like ice, pens, etc.
If you would like to know more about tooth whitening and sensitivity and live in the Valley Village, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Burbank, or North Hollywood, California areas, please contact Smiles By Sands today.
