Placement of Dental Implants
If you are looking to replace uncomfortable and unnatural dental bridges or dentures, or have lost or fractured a tooth, you should consider the option of a dental implant. Although the placement of a dental implant can take upwards of three months, the time and financial commitment of the dental implant process pays dividends with regard to your oral comfort and self-confidence.
While it’s possible to have a dental implant placed in just one visit, most patients don’t qualify due to a lack of good quality jaw bone, a low sinus, or other factors. Since the likelihood is your dental implant will be commitment of many months, it’s important to know what you’re getting into:
On average, this process takes approximately three months. In between surgeries, you must maintain the highest quality of oral hygiene to ensure a successful implant. Following the placement of your dental implant, you must return for dental cleanings every three to four months.
Smiles By Sands goes the extra yard in making certain our patients have a pleasant dental experience, which is why we practice sedation dentistry in order to alleviate any dental anxiety you might typically endure.

- Your gum must then heal around the screw. This process is known as osseointegration
- The gum tissue is carefully lifted and a healing collar is placed
- After your gums heal around the collar, a porcelain crown is attached
